Goals for 2016

The holidays are over and I did not even have the time to fully rest and recuperate for 2016. It was the opposite actually. It was a stressful December for me. Why is December so damn stressful? Particularly this year, among all others. It’s not like the work was harder last month, it’s just that my energy was plummeting to unimaginable depth. Last December marked my first year of working since I graduated last 2014. Could that be it? Is being an “adult” on Holiday season stealing all my energy?

Nevertheless, even though I was ranting and rambling here and there last month, I decided to welcome this year with a list of goals. This maybe known to others as resolutions. Though it is inevitable to fall off track as the year progresses, a little list of goals will keep me sane for the rest of 2016

Write on my Log Book daily
This concept I gathered from the book Steal like an Artist by AustinKleon. A log book is basically a diary but a more concise and specific version. It can be any one-page-a-day journal wherein you will jot down the activities that transpired throughout your day. The use of it? I am not sure! But I am pretty certain this will come in handy in the future. I like the concept of being more aware of my activities throughout the day.

Read at least one book a month
When I was in high school I used to read novels, a lot of it. Then ever since college, the hobby was somehow put aside and by the time I was in med school I was reading one novel in a year. It was such a shame! I just want to get back to my books and be able to get lost in the pages again.

Meditate
This past year, I found myself more anxious than ever and the littlest things overwhelm me. I find myself getting worried or annoyed with minute issues or uneasy circumstances daily. I tend to overthink and this habit leads to procrastination and eventually analysis paralysis. Whenever I try to research a solution online, meditation always comes on top of the list. So this year, I will try and explore meditation. I will try to meditate as often as I can, preferably in the morning, allotting five to ten minutes of my routine. Of course, the ultimate goal is to meditate daily. I am very excited with the mental and spiritual gains I will get from it.

Blog More
I have a goal of writing x number of blog posts per month. It is quite an ambitious amount for someone like me who blogs once a week or once every two weeks. But in order to step up my blogging game, I need to have a target and blog regularly.

Get Fit
I aim to lose x number of pounds every quarter. Setting a measurable number of pounds makes your goal more feasible. I will do this by always choosing the healthier food options and by staying active as much as I can.

So that’s about it on my list of goals this twenty sixteen. What are you goals and resolutions? I would love to hear it! Leave a link in the comments section if you have a blog post on this. Thanks for reading!
